How do you advocate for accessibility when stakeholders view it primarily as a compliance requirement?
The best case scenarios involve all teams being on the same page about the importance of the Accessible interfaces, and how it enables most vulnerable user groups to be productive in your product. In reality, the priorities and commitments shift constantly, and it is up to me to constantly advocate for the User, and push for the enhancements that would elevate their experiences the most.

Can you describe a situation where accessibility improvements led to measurable usability or productivity gains?
The easiest example to make would be all the feedback that our existing customers are coming back with. Each customer has a unique story and set of Use Cases that Product team, must cater to and resolve. It is personally very rewarding to hear all the success stories post feature release that my effort contributed to.

What trade-offs have you had to make between accessibility and technical limitations, and how did you handle them?
No trade-offs in a traditional sense of this term.
The only compromises that are justifiable, when it comes to the Accessibility topic are the limitations in the capacities of the product teams to implement the (sometimes high-effort) changes. But they are never final.

How do you ensure accessibility standards are maintained as a complex product evolves over time?
I make sure to work with cross-functional product teams to make sure, that all the new features and enhancements are out-of-the box accessibility compliant. This effort is mainly possible by being able to provide UX feedback during the conceptualizing phase of building the product, to avoid costly effort of doing double the work down the line.
